Tom Staron is a Co-Owner and Investing Partner at Horizon Five and the Owner and CEO of the EMC Companies, where he oversees a diversified automotive dealership portfolio spanning vehicle sales, service, and collision-related operations, together with an associated commercial real estate and development portfolio that supports both operating businesses and broader investment objectives.

For more than three decades, Tom has built and scaled businesses with a focus on disciplined growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation.

Tom brings a distinctly operator-driven perspective to investing. His experience spans acquisitions, business development, real estate strategy, design and construction, capital allocation, and day-to-day operating execution. He approaches investments with an emphasis on strong fundamentals, thoughtful risk management, durable cash flow, and sustainable enterprise value.

At Horizon Five, Tom contributes both investment judgment and practical operating experience, with a particular focus on identifying opportunities where strategic capital, disciplined execution, and an ownership mindset can create meaningful long-term value.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hartford and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Tom resides in Connecticut, with his wife and three daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, biking, tennis, skiing, and spending time with his family on or near the ocean.
